SASKATOON, SK: April 3, 2019: On Wednesday, April 3rd, five supply chain innovations that matter to mining will be presented to a panel of representatives from Saskatchewan’s leading minerals companies in the International Mineral Innovation Institute’s (IMII’s) second DEMOday.
They are:
- A new cybersecurity solution for industrial SCADA systems from EECOL Electric and Nozomi Networks;
- A new corrosion resistant epoxy powder coating technology from Saskatoon Custom Powder Coating Corporation and Akzo Nobel Coatings;
- A new to Saskatchewan mining technology for potential use in the potash industry from Continental Mine & Industrial Supply Ltd.;
- A new dust collection system suitable for underground potash mining from Continental Mine & Industrial Supply Ltd.; and
- A new battery electric truck for roof bolting from Prairie Machine & Parts Mfg. Partnership.
“DEMOday 2019 builds on the success of last year’s first-time event,” says Al Shpyth, IMII’s Executive Director. “The innovations selected for this year’s DEMOday represent opportunities to better protect the mineral industries production networks and equipment, enhance productivity, and improve worker health and safety.”
Eric Anderson, Executive Director of the Saskatchewan Industrial and Mining Suppliers Association added, “We are pleased to welcome DEMOday back to the Saskatchewan Mining Supply Chain Forum and to again see the range of innovations from Saskatchewan-based suppliers selected to pitch to the minerals industry’s leading companies.”
The IMII created DEMOday in recognition that innovation is important to the sustainability of Saskatchewan’s minerals industry and the province. Fostering innovation in the industry’s supply chain is equally important as inventions are innovations only when they are put into use. DEMOday facilitates the movement of inventions down the path of commercialization to innovations.
