International Minerals Innovation Institute

The International Minerals Innovation Institute (IMII) is committed to advancing innovations that matter to Saskatchewan’s minerals industry.

To recognize the innovative nature of its mineral company members, IMII is developing a series of videos to profile innovations that matter to mining in Saskatchewan.

The first three videos are focused in innovative approaches in education and training. IMII’s member companies are committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce reflective of the communities in which they operate in Saskatchewan To this end, they have sponsored a minerals industry first – a series of diversity and inclusion challenges in which IMII has committed more than $1 million to support demonstrations and pilot projects of new ways to attract, develop and retain Indigenous peoples and women in the minerals industry’s workforce.

The first video to be released is:

  • Video 1 – Introduction to Mining: a first-of-its-kind entry-level program jointly offered by Parkland and Carlton Trail Regional Colleges which provided foundational training and hands-on learning experiences for Indigenous people in jobs in the mining industry and environmental monitoring;

You’ll find the videos on IMII’s website at https://imii.ca/resources. The next two videos will be released in the coming weeks.

For more information on IMII’s diversity and inclusion challenges and the projects selected for funding, please see our website https://imii.ca/diversity-inclusion-program/.

A second set of videos are being prepared to highlight some of the technology innovations being supported by IMII member companies.  These will be released towards the end of 2018 and in early 2019.
